Outdoor Activities for the Fall

I love the Fall season but sometimes we get stuck in the house and can’t seem to find our way back outside to the fresh air.  In the south right now the mornings are chilly, the afternoons are warm, and the nights are cold brrrr.  Here are some ideas to try out to get you back outside.

1.  Make a fun trail around the yard to follow using the leaves that are already on the ground.   This can be a little work but it if you let the kids help it can be fun in the process.

2.  Collect leaves to make a leaf rub.  Place paper over the leaf and use the side of a crayon to rub the outline of the leaf on the paper.

3.  In the evenings try going to a high school football game.  It will be fun to show your kids where you went to school and how you did this here and there.  And of course watch the game too!

4.  Cuddle in a hammock.  We have a hammock in the backyard and I love to get a few blankets and cuddle under the stars.  You can make great conversation when there are no distractions.

5.  Enjoy a bike ride or walk around the block.  While the day is still a little warm continue to get great exercise without getting too hot.

6.  Have a scavenger hunt in the yard.  Write down the items you are hiding in the yard and let everyone find them.  If you have a little more time, print pictures of the treasures and see if they can find the item that looks like that picture.

7.  Go to the free fall festivals that are put on by the local churches and schools.  There are a ton of games and food that you can enjoy at these type of events.  Some of my fondest memories were when I went to my fall festivals for school.

8.  Go camping in the backyard.  We did this recently and although two of us didn’t make it the whole night ( me and my 3 year old ) it was fun for us all.

9.  Roast marshmallows.  You don’t have to be camping in the wilderness to make great smores.

10.  **** Do you have a fun fall activity that you would like to share.  I would love to hear it and post it with these so that we can all have a fun fall.  Post it and I will add it here.
